Why i Stitch Sustainably

At Cozy Daisy Stitchery, sustainability isn’t an afterthought—it’s the thread that holds everything together.

From reusable water balloons and zero-waste cotton face scrubbies to guides on making the most of toys you already own (even if that means you don’t buy one from me!) every item is a small act of resistance against waste and throwaway culture. I use recycled and upcycled materials, avoid polyester when possible, and package your orders in compostable materials. It’s not just about the finished product—it’s about the whole process.

This collection is for the parents who want better for their kids without compromising on whimsy or wonder. For families who love beauty, but also want to live gently.

A Story from Our Home

In the months leading up to my daughter’s birthday, we’d been having gentle conversations about sustainability—mostly around the overflowing toy bin and the well-meaning but excessive gifts from family. We talked about choosing fewer things, better things, things that last.

Then her birthday came, and a sweet friend from our local community in Niger gave her a classic baby doll—fabric body, hard plastic head, arms, and legs, with silky blonde hair. She adored it instantly. It became her bedtime buddy that very first night.

But within a week, one of the legs had fallen off. Stuffing peeked through the seams where it had torn. I asked her gently if she thought it was time to let it go. She clutched it close and said, “No, Momma. I love her.” A few weeks later, the arms followed. Her little voice, wise beyond her years, said, “Plastic toys don’t last too long, but I love her, Momma, so I don’t mind that she has no legs.”

That doll—by then more stuffing than shape—sparked so many quiet moments of learning. We talked about body differences. About why cheaply made toys break so quickly. About how the things we throw away don’t really go away—they just end up somewhere else, hurting our planet. We talked about the difference between toys that last for a week, and toys that last for years. And about how love doesn’t depend on perfection.

That was back in October of last year. It’s June now, and while the doll no longer makes it into her nightly lineup, my daughter still can’t bring herself to part with it.

This story lives in everything I create at Cozy Daisy Stitchery. Each stitch is a quiet refusal of disposability—a promise that handmade can be lasting, lovable, and light on the earth.

Why sustainability Matters

The things we surround ourselves with—what we touch, wear, and give to our kids—shape our habits and our world. When you choose thoughtfully-made toys, décor, and tools, you’re helping teach the next generation to live with care and purpose.

Even one reusable item can be a gentle shift toward sustainability through less waste and more joy.

Let’s Build Better Habits—Together

These pieces are more than handmade—they’re hopeful. They’re practical. And they’re a reminder that small changes really do add up.
